This question is about internet access where cable and DSL are not available. It's specifically about using a cellular modem/network IN CONJUNCTION WITH a satellite internet provider to boost bandwidth, instead of relying on satellite internet alone (or cellular alone).
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellite_Internet_access under “One-way receive, with terrestrial transmit”:
“Using a 33 cm wide satellite dish, a notebook and a normal GPRS equipped GSM phone, users can get mobile satellite broadband.”
How specifically? Is there a simple solution nowadays? Link below is a tech guy who in 2007 was using cellular with satellite and both systems divide the upload and download responsibility to maximize speed or minimize latency depending what’s needed. His solution is far beyond my capabilities however. Can he Skype? Is there an easier solution now?
