Books with the theme of loss with children characters?

For an essay I am writing, I am studying children in literature and what effect it gives when the characters are children.

I am also looking into the theme of loss, can anyone think of any books that I can look into?

Also if you can think of any books with children characters in written for adults that would be amazing. Thank you!
