Books where dancing partners wrote their names - in the olden days.?

I don't know how successful I'm going to be at finding an answer, and this is the only section I can think of to put it in, but, what were those books called - say, in Jane Austenish times, when a woman was at a dance, and men would ask her for a dance and their names would be written in a book so they could remember what partner was with which dance, does anybody know what they were called?
 
That was the lady's dance card. The man would ask if she had a free slot on her card, and if she accepted, she would write in his name and dance with him at the appropriate time.
