Book recommendations please?

I'm looking for a book that has an individual vs. society. It's for a grade 11 English class, and pretty much anything goes (as long as it's suitable for a male reader, haha) although I do enjoy something more realistic and not really much fantasy (like dragons, elves, etc.)
