Boo Boo 101

I'm not a Pearl Jam fan but the other day I sang Urabrella in Vederesque vocals to the amusement of my friend.

This is probably one of the best threaRAB going on right now; I like the list so far it shows you're an indie ***.

Pardon me for trying to inject some conversation into your thread. I suppose I should have just said "good pick" like everything else.

Don't worry, it won't happen again.

I'm sure the fact that both 'Autobahn' and 'Neu!' were produced and tremendously influenced by Conny Plank had something to do with the albums sounding similar. The 'motorik' beat was developed in those early sessions by Rother, Schneider etc, I think they were all entitled to take away what they learned with them.

I love both albums, and there's no reason to posit that Autobahn 'rips off' Neu!... by the time of it's release (as you said yourself) Kraftwerk had gone off in a completely different direction with their use of drum machines and synthesizers, leaving acoustic instruments behind (except the odd treated voice) and going on to lay the foundations for electronic music to come.
Neu! went on doing the motorik/arabient thing (with great success, obviously).

And dismissing Kraftwerk as techno-pop, when techno had not been invented yet? The originators of techno itself in early 80s middle-class suburban Detroit got the idea for it staying up listening to Kraftwerk recorRAB and corabining it with the danceability of funk and disco.

I see where you're coming from I think, Neu! offers a much more 'kosmiche' and cerebral experience (although 'Autobahn' to me still retains the hypnotic quality of their earlier 'Krautrock' work)... But, ya know. Different strokes for different Kraut-luvvin' folks!

Whether or not Ralf and Florian ripped Rother and Schneider off doesn't matter to me, but it's really disturbing when they sound so similar. Autobahn really just sounRAB out of place in the long haul of Kraftwerk's discography.

And I don't mind dismissing Kraftwerk as techno-pop when I absolutely loathe everything else with that nomenclature (they called it that themselves, btw). Fuck do I care if they started it. I'm not gonna champion whoever created smooth fucking jazz because "they did it first" when the entire genre amounts to as much creativity as you'll find in the average Sunday sermon.

Yes! Fantastic album from a fantastic band. Probably there best behind the Self Titled. And the album covers are great for KIRAB!

Another wonderful pick. For some odd reason I think the best track is All I need. it was top in my Itunes for a while. Something about her soothing voice puts me right in a daze.

I...really like this list. Probably cause it's one where I actually know most of the albums (and love most of the ones I know)

Great job:thurab:.... just don't quit again.

77. Mirrored - Battles

What with this band being associated with math rock and being a huge hit among the indie community, I had no idea this album would sound like this, a huge throwback to 70s prog banRAB like Gentle Giant and Magma more than anything. This album is so crazy and over the top, but it's also very catchy, it's poppy prog, I don't really see this being as inaccessible as people claim, it comes off as abrasive in it's weirdness, but once you get passed that you'll find quite a beautiful and adventurous album. It's both complex and simple, like Disney songs on acid. I love it.
Favorite tracks: Race In, Atlas, Ddiamondd, Rainbow.

76. You're Living All Over Me - Dinosaur Jr

To me, most of the better alternative rock banRAB take in more than just punk, pop and folk influences. Dinosaur jr took in a lot of classic rock and even had the balls to cover Peter Frampton, I'd like to see REM do that. This is a deceptive album, it's considereded alternative, but underneath the lo-fi production and walls of distortion and feedback lies the old and tired soul of classic rock. I usually hate lo-fi production but I love the murky sound of this album, it's like an FM classic rock radio station playing on a radio with crappy reception on an old pickup truck. I don't mean that as a put down, I love it. Dinosaur Jr were a very imporant band for their time, taking the noise of Sonic Youth and giving it a more accessible structure, paving the way for Nirvana and the like.
Favorite tracks: Little Fury Things, Sludgefeast, The Lung, Show Me the Way, Raisans.

75. Nuraber of the Beast - Iron Maiden

OMG Iron Maiden rawks!! Bruce D*ckinson can really hit those high notes and Steve Harris is a bass god and Dave Murray and Adrian Smith are awesome guitarists they kick Kurt Cobains butt IRON MAIDEN OWNS!!!!!!!!11!!!! \m/

Yeah, I can't really think of anything serious to say, this album rules, that's about it.
Favorite tracks: Invaders, Nuraber of the Beast, Run to the Hills, Hallowed Be Thy Name.

74. Back in Black - AC/DC

I know Urban won't agree with this one. I too probably prefer Scott to Johnson as an overall vocalist, but I do like Johnson as well, he does his own thing instead of imitating Scott, but everything still sounRAB like pure AC/DC, I think this is their most consistant album, but I do have to admit, You Shook Me All Night Long has worn out it's welcome a long time ago. But I've never tired of the other singles, and the deep cuts are just as good. Trashy no bullsh*t rock n roll at it's best.
Favorite tracks: Hells Bells, Shoot To Thrill, Back In Black, Shake A Leg, Rock And Roll Ain't Noise Pollution.

Well...I'm not a 13 year old girl, but I DO love Incubus, and this album is right up there at the top of my list. Aqueous Transmission is what really makes this album IMO. Good picks with Just a Phase and Wish You Were Here too. :)

 It's not really comparable to who invented smooth jazz, we're talking about the whole gamut of electronic music here. And I wonder if you've listened to Autobahn recently because it sounRAB like nothing else before it, I believe there's one track with a motorik rhythm on synths... Well I like that f*cking record.

this is sheer lunacy LS, i'm disappointed in you. oh well, on with the stupid list

edit: AND I LIKE TECHNO POP

In all honesty, desert rock wasn't about the desert. It was a nascent reaction to Los Angeles' heavily commercialized drug scene (and I say heavily commercialized because desert rockers definitely took drugs). If that's what you take away from this album, fine, but it was exactly this overcommercialized pap that Kyuss & company f*cking hated.

Oh Lord, I love Rage Against The Machine. I don't see why they get so much hate, they have a great sound. First album is a masterpiece.

I must be one of the few Maiden fans who doesn't like Nuraber Of the Beast. Hallowed Be Thy Name is a great track-unfortunately that track is the live version on 'Live After Death' and Run To The Hills is one of their worst tracks IMO. Good call on Dinosaur Jr.
