Bone Spurs?

How does one develop bone spurs in their lurabar section? Does that mean your bones are fragile and breaking apart? In the MRI report is states "L3-L4 has significant degenerative change where there is prominent bulging of the disc and osteophyte formation. Moderate disc bulging with disc desiccation at the L4-L5 level. Mild scoliosis is noted. Any input, please reply. I have been suffering with this now for the past 2 years. Thanks all. Linda

I had significant spurs too where the bone had been rubbing on itself-my discs were basically gone! I had so many when they cut me open they found I had enough bone spurs to grind up and mix with BMP they didn't have to take the pelvic graft as planned!
Significant degenerative change means your disc has blown to the point that your bones are rubbing against each other. They can also pinch or irritate the sciatic nerve which causes a host of other pain.

What options has your doctor given you?

Going to pain management on Tuesday and he will decide whether to give me steriod shots or not. I've had them before and they did a bit. After that I don't know what they want to do. I'd rather keep surgery for the very last resort. Thanks for answering my questions. Linda
