Hi! I also had a bone spur on my original xray at the onset of my pain. A bone spur is a growth to try and cover up underlying problem. (in my case)
For 2 years, all docs said that bone spurs do not cause pain. That is baloney.
After trying everything in the book to relieve the pain, inlcuding pain meRAB, muscle relaxers, nerve pain meRAB, physical therapy, hysterectomy and appendectomy, steroid injections in various places, a discogram that showed my discs were fine, chiro appts, accupuncture, massage, and seeing a naturopath, I went again to see the back surgeon who felt sorry for me in his office since I was crying and agreed to do surgery. At that point, I was limping on the right and in pain to tears.
After they opened me up, the saw the inflammation and severe arthritis of the facet joint, not the disc, and they cleaned up the bone spur and fused L5-S1.
My point I am trying to make to you is please try all other avenues to help with the pain, but if you don't get anywhere with it, dont let them dismiss you. See a spine specialist, getting 2nd and 3rd opinions if necessary.Hope you feel better soon!
