bone scan

i'm having a bone scan done on monday does anyone know what can be seen on this vrs the mri? the pm dr in seattle order it for me..so i posponed my epidural/ si joint injection i'm not even sure what i was having done my reg dr is on vacation he ordered the epidural the pm dr said no that i need the si i had one it was not good so any wayi'm cancelling tell after incase it tells me i need the steroid some where else?
i had 1 mri 2 weeks after my injury it only showed min buldging disc at L4/L5 and mild ddd and i can't remeraber what else ... so does any one know what this bone scan should tell me??is it better then the mri??

It's different from an MRI. I had a whole body bone scan. It was pretty freaky to see it. It was my skeleton laying on a table! What I was told was they were just making sure there weren't abnormalities they weren't already aware of. That probably doesn't help much. Sorry. That's all I've got right now.

I went online to look it up and here is what I found:

An MRI is an advanced technology that lets you see internal organs, blood vessels, muscles, joints, tumors, areas of infection.

A Bone Scan is to detect areas of abnormal bone growth due to fractures, tumours, infection, or other bone diseases.

So, it does sound like they look for different things.
