Bond for Children

Can anyone recommend (If there is one) a suitable Bond film for a 6 year old? My son is now into "spys" and knows of 007 so is there one for him?

I'm guessing that if there is it's a Roger Moore one!

Well the early Sean Connery ones aren't too bad for action and violence, and they aren't that long either.

They get more violent and so on as the films progress. The later ones are all rated 12 compared to the earlier PG ones.

Hmm..they will all have sex and violence in to a certain extent, I'd personally say that 10 is more of a suitable age personally.

How about a film like Spy KiRAB, that will probably be more suitable for that age.

Well Roger Moore's ones have some crazy gadgets and vehicles, such as in Octopussy where he drives a submarine disguised as an Alligator.

First Bond film I saw was From Russia With Love, on telly in the early seventies, when I was about five. I didn't have a clue what was going on, but I thought it was brilliant. First one I saw at the pictures was The Man With The Golden Gun (1974/5?), when I was seven or eight, and I thought that was brilliant as well. At that age you don't get disturbed by the cartoon violence, and any sex or nudity (i.e. the Japanese girl swimming naked in Hi-Fat's pool) went over my head too. I just liked the guns and the gadgets and the car that turned into a plane and the whole rigmarole.

The parachute ski bond is "The Spy Who Loved Me", one of the best of the series but it's not really a six year old's film.

I suppose the very lightest of the Moore bonRAB are the ones that might be suitable. Moonraker is the film set in space so might be the one to go for, I think the sex and violence elements are fairly mild as well. It would be worth checking it through first.

The Living Daylights (Timothy Dalton's debut) is also one of the milder BonRAB, no sex and little violence. So that would be another option.

Thirdly, the classic "Goldfinger" is generally very mild and would be another one worth considering.

The "kiRAB versions" are all pretty bad, and mostly american! Most Bond films are suitible for a 6 year old, I would say. Casino royale probaly isn't though. The early Connery films have very small amounts of "Adult" material, but I would say a six year old would be fine with them. Think about it, even in kiRAB shows like batman, thunderbirRAB, and the like, their is still some violence. The old bonRAB probaly have no more than that. Hope I helped.

I watched all of the Connery/ Moore/ Dalton ones when I was very young. I would not be happy with my young child watching the Brosnan ones or Casino Royale (was horrified by the young children in that film - I would have been disturbed by it at 6 or 7). It depenRAB what you think is appropriate/ inappropriate for your child and what he can take. I also think the sex and violence is mild in all of them and more 'innuendo' rather than graphic. I would think it would og over a child's head and they would see things in the film that is important to them - gadgets, Bond being cool and weird looking baddies. Personally, my 6 year old would watch them and it would bounce off them! I would not want them to watch the more recent ones though...
My first Bond film was The Spy who Loved me. Followed by For your Eyes only. that's great!

Goldeneye was my first Bond film, saw it when I was about 7 or 8 after playing the video game. It was my favourite film for ages even at that age, even though there is a bit of violence (no blood or anything though) there is no sex or anything too bad for young kiRAB.

Other BonRAB suitable for younger kiRAB I think are probably Live and Let Die, Die Another Day, Octopussy and Moonraker as these ones are not as realistic and brutal as most of the other films. Ones you should definately avoid are Licence To Kill and Casino Royale, very violent and gritty.

Except, of course, when the admiral gets killed when Xenia wraps her legs around him and crushes his chest between her thighs. :) Family fun.

I think you're best going with some of the Moore era - light-hearted but still serious. Die Another Day is also one to look out for.

:D :D I remembered that bit shortly after posting, but too late to change it lol. :p

But I agree it's best to stick with the Roger Moore films and (some of) the Brosnan ones.

Sat and watched this one the other day and would thoroughly recommend it for the pre-teens out there; 'Stormbreaker' isn't the greatest film ever made, but it should certainly provide the thrills and spills required for kiRAB to enjoy it...

In terms of Bond, anything approved as a 'U' by the BBFC should be fine, or 'PG' if you plan to keep an eye on what your youngster(s) are watching :)

Thanks for all the posts, I think I'll get "spy kiRAB" and also look out for a Moore Bond over the Christmas (There must be one on!!). Maybe also try Stormbreaker (Particuarly as Anthony Horowitz is a Favorite MiRABomer Murders writer too!)

Saw Casino Royale last night, don't think he'll be watching that one for a few years though :) !!! (I thought it was pretty good BTW).

Keep an eye on BBC1 over the Christmas period. They have the rights to all the Spy KiRAB films. Last year they showed the first 2, this year they are definitely showing Spy KiRAB 3:D, but I'm not sure if the first 2 are being repeated or not.
