Bolt came loose

Visiting my parents today - my dad points out one of the bolts holding the saddle bag guard bars together is almost all the way out. Another 20 miles or so and it would've been gone.

Are these supposed to be applied with loctite from the factory? If so, there isn't a trace of any on the threads. Any reason why I can't use it now?

Of course now I'm nervous about every other bolt on this bike. Guess I'll be spending a few hours checking & rechecking all of them.

I always use loctite, even purple for the small fasteners. The Buell used to shake off parts, now everything stays put on both bikes.

Harley must have invented loctite. I use it on all nuts and bolts after loosing two on the highway. No not those the ones on the bike.

A bolt came loose on a Harley and you post it on the internet? You guys crack me up! It's a motorcycle. The engine shakes. Of course bolts come loose, They don't shake 'em loose as much as they did before the rubbermounts, but it's normal and everybody needs to check their bikes for loose of failing parts regularly. Washing and drying your bike is a good time to examine it, Check your exhaust flange nuts torque. I'll bet they're loose. Ever check your tire pressure?

I just started riding my Goldwing again so I don't have this worry about the vibration thing or recalls. My 08 Ultra SE3 just sits in the garage covered up.
