What do you think of Bollywood films???

I love them, there are some truly moving films on the market. Furthermore some truly gorgeous stars...

Aishwariya Rai
Rani Murkhakjee
Bipasha Basu.

They have song, dance and colour.

Your views please.
 
I guess like all movie industries, you are going to get the good, the bad and the ugly!

i havnt seen any bollywood films, the only asian films i have seen are like 'east is east' and thats not the same is it?

but i do like the korean and japanese asian films... horror just isnt the same in hollywood
 
But saying that, my sis and i used to watch that mege epic Maharajah (i thin it was called)

we used to do different voices for different characters.... i try to get my boyf to do the same now and he just looks at me...
 
Never seen any - my brother in law is Indian and he has huge collections of them in the US. He adores them.

What's the name of some of the popular classics?, I'd like to have a look. Nothing like a bit of romance, especially with gorgeous Indian women in cute saris, a bit of blooRABhed wouldn't go amiss either to balance the soft stuff.

See Devdas, it is bollywood in a nut shell, has the gorgeous Aishwariya Rai and Maduri Dixit, along with the hugely popular god like actor Shah Rukh Khan. It also has all the things you wanted.

Shah rukh khab is in all of those bar sholay , thats how popular he is.

Bollywood is going through a stage of discoversing 'sex', what they consider to be adult is quite shocking.

Im not indian btw.
 
I always watch bollywood movies with subtitles because I'm deaf and dont understand their language.

Sometime, they dont have subtitles, I go ahed to watch it and ask my mother or sister to explain what actors said in movies.

I also watch mix - bollywoood/ hollywood like 'East is East and 'Bend it like Beckham'. Hopeful I take a chance to watch 'Bride and Prejudice' soon when I'm free.

I like to watch romance, horror, action, etc depard on my mood.

I like to watch japanese movies - they are interesting and different from another. They have more energy and motion than hollywood movies.

I think it's good to watch international movies, not just english. It give you a chance to learn about their culture and the way they made those films from hollywood.
 
I love Lagaan.:) It all centres around a cricket match (I hate cricket:eek: ), but in the same way that Field of Dreams centres around baseball.

And I can see why Aamir Khan is such a superstar.;) Talk about charisma.

It's great to hear that a non-asian(i presume),enjoys Hindi films,i'm not a fan of the term BOLLYWOOD,LOLLYWOOD(Pakistani cinema),DOLLYWOOD(Bangladeshi cinema),CHOLLYWOOD or TOLLYWOOD(Tamil cinema)etc.
I'm not a fan of the current Hindi cinema,i prefer the golden oldies from the 40's,50's,60's,70's.
I also prefer Independent cinema from India,wether it is Hindi,Bengali etc.(check out directors:SATYAJIT RAY,SHYAM BENEGAL)
