Boehner walks, guarantees rating downgrade for the USA

The Republicans are only offering short term deals which the ratings agencies DON'T want. Obama wants a long term deal. Hence the bitching about a '6 month' plan versus one going into 2013.

surely its appropriate to simplify the topics of finance, economics, and government into a 4 line narrative.

i would be in favor of that...but im not so sure the banks are in good shape. I think their balance sheets are a lot worse than is being stated....assets on the books that will NEVER be worth what they are saying its worth....liabilities that they havent realized yet as well....the robosigning mess only complicates things.

but picking 5 or 6 banks...and even charging them 10 billion a year won't make much of a dent...

no, because you need to contract money supply periodically as part of the business cycle when it overheats.

unless we have already adjusted to a new reality...

Obama WANTS a bigger deal but that included tax increases so the GOP, which refuses to move to the center and compromise, wouldn't go for it.

Where was the outrage when Pelosi and Reid were cramming through a health care bill and completely ignored Republicans?

BTW, moody's has already stated that USA's rating is going to go down no matter what.

Passing debt ceiling increase without any permanent changes to lower debt will result in same or worse outcome for US rating.

No, he wanted to cut more and increase taxes. Spineless Boehner, who has lost control of his party, knew he couldn't get the votes for such a deal so turned it down.

Yes, I'm partisan even though I don't support either party, only wish the government be bound by the constitution and obey it.

Nice troll effort you fucktard.

How many times did we try to get Republicans to go along with it? Chuck Grassley and Olympia Snowe were for it, healthcare was going to be bipartisan... before Sarah Palin started the death panel lies and Dick Armey stirred up the town halls. Remeraber, the individual mandate is a Republican idea.

well its really not the same thing.

here, they need to have a compromise. in health care, the democrats were a cunthair away from being filibusterproof.

Like Reid is any better.

And don't get me going about Obama .... the man who submits a budget and it gets rejected 97 to 0 ... couldn't even get 1 Democrat to vote for it.

The Senate voted unanimously on Wednesday to reject a $3.7 trillion budget plan that President Obama sent to Capitol Hill in February.

Ninety-seven senators voted against a motion to take it up.
