Boehner passes SECOND bill, DEMS vow to block it

Hasn't been voted on yet....let's take a look at the last bill Boehner was championing as "Bipartisan" for clues on what denotes "bipartisan"....

Democrats - 2 - 177


Get 1% of the Democrat vote and presto-chango it has bipartisan support!
 
What's the absurdly low nuraber? I just reread the '95 ammendment (which appears to be what they are re-pushing) and didn't find that in there.
 
1% of the other side passes the smell test for me, better champion the bipartisan support we got from the 2 democrats who voted with us!
 
I was just saying to a co-worker yesterday, talking about all this debt ceiling BS.

"Where are those economists now? Well, they're still economists. If they were such good economists, they'd all be retired and sipping pina coladas right now!"
 
I don't see how either of the things I posted was a red herring.


Many here are appalled at Boehner's bill because it has no Democrat support, while supporting the healthcare bill, which had no Republican support.
 
There were plenty of warnings even going back to 2005.

That's not even mentioning the liberals who saw problems with the repeal of Glass-Steagal and subprime lending long before even 2005.
 
18 or 20% have been thrown out. Right now we are at 25% or so. That will drop as the economy recovers, but will increase as our population ages. It would require major cuts, at any rate.

I have no problem with a balanced budget amendment, if it could be structured to balance budgets over business cycles, and not on a year to year basis.
