I like how this thread is supposed to be praising Boehner for wasting time on TWO bills that he knew were never going to get anywhere. Meanwhile the grown-ups are working on a bill that actually has a modicum of approval from the other party.
Hoover said many scathing remarks about the economists that wanted things to liquidate, like Mises and Hayek, but yet he was very close to extreme laissez-faire himself
We determined that we would not follow the advice of the bitter-end liquidationists and see the whole body of debtors of the United States brought to bankruptcy and the savings of our people brought to destruction.
After years of barely doing anything in legislative initiatives as unemployment skyrockets, Hoover finally gets off his ass 3 years into the Depression and starts a few stimulus programs.
MUST HAVE BEEN BORN AS FDR-LITE AND WASN'T EVER THE LEAST BIT ON THE LAISSEZ-FAIRE SIDE
