Bob?s Burgers ? Fox?s New Animated Comedy

I know that some people are tired of Fox and their decision to stick with families as the focal point of their animated comedies, but I guess such is working for them. They’ve ordered 13 episodes of “Bob’s Burgers”, created by Loren Bouchard. A picture of it can be seen in that article.

This is the second animated comedy they announced recently, as they are also working on “Rooster Tales”, based on Matthew McConaughey’s brother of all things.

Does Fox have some type of fetish for cartoons about Families? Seriously we already have 4, poor Sit Down Shut Up wasn't about families and got the boot. Lookin at the picture, it looks like something from the UK or something.

I'm always skeptical of any show, cartoon or otherwise, where the show's title and the primary focus don't seem to sync up. Why's it called Bob's Burgers if it's really about Bob's family and not his burger restaurant? They even admit in the article that the restaurant itself was unimportant; they only picked a burger joint because it would seem iconic. I don't like to write anything off before I've seen it, especially when it's over a year away from debuting, but I can't say I have high hopes for this one.

Also, do the characters have noses? They look like they don't have noses.

Doesn't look like something I would get behind, but since we only have a description and promo art, I might give it a chance like I did with Sit Down, Shut Up.

Go figure that the design looks like a hand-drawn Home Movies.

Not sold on the concept, but very sold on Loren Bouchard creating a new show..

Of course. Not that it's bad or anything.

This is Jon Benjamin's second starring role on an upcoming animated series from 20th Century Fox, coincidentally. He also stars in FX's upcoming "Archer"...

Both were involved in the classic Comedy Central program "Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist" as well as "Home Movies" on Adult Swim.

Oh yeah, I know. I was just excited that they were involved as well as Jim Dauterive from KOTH.

The show has potential, but just like SDSU, Family Guy, KOTH, and American Dad, I don't expect the first few episodes to be that good.

The show's not about the burger industry. The creators have said that the burger joint Bob works in is just incidental; he could've just as easily worked in a hardware store or an auto dealership. the show's about Bob and his family, not hamburgers. Bob's Burgers is as much about the fast food business as ABC's Sports Night was about sports, which is to say, not very much at all.

I have to say, from what I've seen, the show looks generic. I'm not a big fan of the character designs, and Fox has already done animated domestic comedies to death; they're definitely stuck in a queenie groove with their animated sitcoms about quirky families, so this one's going to have to be something really special to stand out among all of Fox's other cartoon family shows.
