Board Recustomization

Well, I only joined in early 2001 and FF has changed SO much. I miss the old FF in the sense that it brings back memories to remember the old look, the old default avies, etc, etc, but now it looks better.
 
I know, but you said how much you loved the current graphic and you also said you didn't want it to change, so I figured you would want something along those lines. :goof:

By the way, the quote you posted was actually my description of what we currently have, not a suggestion for a future design. I started a whole thread topic that remained very active and complimentary of the artist when we first got this graphic and this version of the colors (the old one was slightly different). I could be wrong but I recall there was some information about that being the intent of the designer, as well...

Anyway, it is a nice way to go for a design, but as it's not up to us, we'll get what we get. *shrug* No big deal...

It's also my understanding that we were suggesting current actors who've significantly contributed to the media/art form based on what we currently have - meaning, the images of John Wayne, Marilyn Monroe, etc. And you're right - it's tough to choose one actor over another.

ETA - we didn't have much say in the graphic the last time around (our only input - again, dimly remembered - was that a female icon be added, hence the Marilyn image), so I'm just going to try and sit as quietly and patiently as I can because you never know how it'll turn out. *lol*
 
When FF first started out the boards looked much different. Over time it's evolved and it looks so much better now. The graphics are taller but not as wide. It just looks better with the new scheme. It doesn't stretch out anything and it makes the board look fuller. The old banners were short and wide. That either forced the maker to stretch out the design to cover the whole canvas which made it look a little pulled or it was just empty space on either side with the graphic centered. It takes up less space now in width but we are able to use all the space to our advantage without it being crowded or empty. It really flows better to the eye. The original banners were 233x98 which is a really strange number. Now they're 230x100. Really it's such a slight difference but it does look more professional in the larger scheme of things. Longer banners as headers generally look unprofessional by today's standards. Graphics go through phases just like fashion. As time goes by and we get better at our craft we start to learn what works. Everyone used to have long banners on websites but that's a bit old school now. People are using buttons more. Everything is being condensed and completely used instead of having empty space. It's the same with iconing. Icons used to be centered with fancy text but now people are learning what looks good and using angles and plain text. FF is evolving as are the people that post. We're trying to make everything more functional and pleasing to the eye.

We may as well talk about random things while we wait :lol: it'll pass the time.
 
I actually joined in December 2001 and in 2005, my computer messed up and it took me until this May to get another one, so I was like yeah baby, came and entered my name (nothing) email address (nothing), my account and 1000's of hard earned post's were kidnapped :lol: It's OK though. :nod:

Chynna Princess - I remember those days! Thanks so much for posting those links! :glow: I started lurking in December '99 and didn't sign up until the following August, but I was here every day, and read every.single.article. at Crashdown during that time. Those were the days, but it's true - I'm just as happy now.

Can't wait for the new look - thanks to all of you who worked on it!
