1997 BMW 328i, C33 Radio,
Problems:
(1) Display is dim
(2) Power cuts out
(3) Code Wait
1. The display is dim. However, after driving for a while (~1 hour)... the display is at its full intensity.
I read about some possible resistors problem... I opened the unit and figured out that it's not the said resistors.
2. I turn on the radio, 2 minutes later it loses power and shuts off. I am not able to turn it back on till much later. Once it turns on, it asks for the security code. I input the code and 2 minutes later it shuts off. I posted this question about a month ago...although I do have an update on the issue. I drove from Chicago to Cincinnati one night and 160 miles into the trip, I thought I'd try the radio. It turned on with the screen at its full brightness. The radio stayed on for the rest of the trip (~3 hours). Well, I'm back to the problem ... it cut out the next morning.
3. I input the wrong code 3 times because I hit the wrong button each time... don't ask... Well...I have to wait 1 hour before I can input the code and have it power on. Problem is... the unit doesn't stay on for more than 2 minutes.
Help. Also, I already bought a new stereo.. Pioneer DEH-P3000IB.
I'm having an issue with the radio reception. I read possible solutions in a few forums... well...I'm trying to figure out if its my antenna cable by hooking up the factory head unit and checking the reception. Well now that's out of the question. Also, the antenna cable seems to be bent and the antenna wire is more than likely to be broken right before the connector (connects the antenna to the factory head unit.)..hence why I'm trying to determine if its the cable. I was also informed that the antenna adapter (from crutchfield) is a crappy one. I don't know if this is an issue, but if i play around with the antenna connector and position it differently while its connected to the antenna adapter, I notice that in a certain position it will give me a good signal (still some static though)
I have great luck :\ This has been a huge headache for me.
Also, I just bought an ipod and want to hook it up to the new head unit... the ipod connection is in the rear of the head unit (also an aux input in front) and would like to wire it going to either the ashtray/cup holders/glove box.... has anyone done something like this?
I appreciate your answers. Please be detailed if need be.
