So, I am looking into buying a new car ($500-$700) on craigslist and I found two that I am highly interested in. Being mechanically stupid I really would like the opinions of the mechanically inclined on both of these cars.
Before you jump into doing so though, let me tell you what I need the car for. I need a daily driver to get around locally in my sort of small town (not rural). My total mileage for one day will be no more than 10 miles. I will rarely be making trips that require a freeway and I need my car to at least last me a good 3-5 years without major problems (little things are expected).
So now that you know my purpose, here are my two contenders:

I am calling to inquire more about both cars tomorrow but if they are ship-shape as they claim, I just want to know what would be a better bargain. It worries me that the BMW is a 1980 but at the same time the Toyota looks just like my friends Toyota P/U which is a 1982 (The circular headlights aren't something I've seen in newer ones). Anyway, give me the pros and cons of the BMW vs. Toyota and if you were me and had to buy one which one would you opt for. I've had no experience with either kind of model.
Thanks in advance, I really really appreciate it.
Wow, no negativity here and you obviously are just ignorant as a whole since you said if I was mechanically stupid I wouldn't buy and old a$$ car...which if you had half a brain you'd realize that if I was mechanically stupid (which is just for lack of a better word) I would do something like buy an old a$$ car. I can not save more money because I need a cheap car in order to get to my job to make more money. I'm a college student and this all I can afford. Now I didn't say "Hey wanna criticize my cheap options?", no, I said wanna help me choose between my will-do options. So if you don't want to help then you might as well not comment. If you want to be nice and help, I'll give you ten points and be very thankful. Rudeness will get you reported. Thanks. Ignoramous.
