Blurred peripheral vision, numbness in hands and headaches.

do you go to church? maybe someone there can pass a hat for you. Maybe someone in your town can help you get cheap medical care or a cheap insurance that would cover it.

Not to mention the irritating shakes I get in my hands.

Not sure what to think. Seems like symptoms of diabetes, to me but as a truck driver, I've had to take many a test for diabetes, to get my med card, I have to carry with me. And never has anyone even hinted at the possibility. And to tell you the truth, when I enter the symptoms into one of those symptom checkers, diabetes rarely comes up. Stroke is the most common. And to tell you the truth, I may have had a minor one once. Tried to stand and had the worst head rush ever. Fell back down and my eyes were looking two different directions and I nearly passed out before I started to regain myself. It was ugly but thats a different discussion.

In general, what usually happens is that my peripheral vision will suddenly turn jumpy or flashy and I can't focus there. Sometimes, its so bad that its mere distraction makes it hard for me to see in front myself as well. This is almost always accompanied by the shakes in my hands. More like tremors, really. Eating something, anything, will usually take away the shakes but the vision thing usually holds on a little longer. The other day, I sat down and ate a full dinner, with salad and still, the two persisted for an hour or more. This was late in the day and I went to bed. The next day, I felt like holy hell and when I laid down, I slept for an astounding three and a half hours. Even though I had had a full nights sleep.

The numbness might not be related. It comes on suddenly but not with the other symptoms. And for no good reason, I can determine. I just lose sensation in my hands (usually) very easily and very quickly. As in, without reason. Not sure what to make of that either. Not sure if the two are related.

I don't know. All I know is it sure sucks to get old.

What's next? Erectile dysfunction?

I'm self employed (sort of). I would have to go to an emergency room. That's why I'm a bit reluctant to act and came here to see if it sounded serious enough to justify the visit. I dred the idea of being seen as a leech. If that makes sense.

HAHA-No, I'm afraid not. I'm a truck driver and home is pretty much where ever I lay my head.

You seem to think something might be serious but you're hesitant to say what?

GaRichard: Get checked by a neurologist for Parkinson's disease and neuropathy. You could still have low blood sugars and not be a diabetic too. Since you had a stroke once you're going to be inclined to have nervous disorders.

You are not a leech, you are a human being who just needs to find out what is wrong. Every human being is a person of value who has something good to contribute to society. I am not trying to be hard on anyone I just want the best for you and others that is all have nice evening!

GaRichard: What kind of company do you work for? Do they provide health insurance? Or are you self-employed? What's the scoop on that? You can have your blood tested at any pharmacy if you ask.

Hi there! Sometimes if a person does not get enough sleep, proper activity levels and proper food the body rebels at the improper treatment. If the cause of the poor health is addressed the problem sometimes goes away. Truckers probably have a great deal of trouble with this. A visit to a produce department with things like avocadoes and dark green vegetables that can be eaten without much cooking may be of value. Perhaps you seldom eat these. If there are foods you have not eaten in a long time maybe adding these items will contribute to health.

Thank-you for your contribution to society by transporting whatever it is that you have been transporting.

No,I don't usually go to doctors. No insurance and not much money either. Blood sugar test? Don't think I've had one but they do a diabetes test on me when I get my DOT physical. Although, it doesn't require drawing blood. And an MRI, nooooooo. I have no clue how I'd even begin to pay for something like that.
