Ok, so im going to buy a tungsten T from someone for 90 dollars, anyone think thats a good deal, and i was reading some reviews seeing that you can connect to the interent and browse the internet and whatnot so i was wondering if i could either buy a bluetooth adapter like this

plug that into my computer and my tungsten T can connect through the interent using that?

or is their another way i could connecto the the internet i have a router WRT54GS but it doesnt have bluetooth lol

BT speeds are not much better than IR or dial up so I'm not sure how well you'd like the results but it is possible with that configuration. And since the T was an early BT device your range won't be much better than say 10 feet....so if your that close to the computer, I'd use the keyboard and the PC for web surfing.

There are more widespread BT sites in Europe then in the USA. But Wifi is much more universal because of range issues etc.

Is the T a good bargain for $90.....I'd rather save and spend it on a TX if I wanted to go surfing the net with a handheld.

The T by itself is a good deal for $90 maybe but you are buying someone else's problem when you buy used.

I have tried both Wi-Fi and BT with my T|X. For the BT, I setup a DLink USB dongle. The sync is extreamely slow. I didn't even try web surfing. I think this would require additional configuration on the BT connected PC allowing other PC (or PDA) to access the WEB through it, but I am not absolutely certain about that.

I also tried to access the BT from my living room with the home office directly upstairs, and the reliability of the connection was unimpressive. I would recommend getting a PDA with Wi-Fi if you really want reliability of connections (IMHO).

I think BT is really only useful for HotSync when you don't want to use a cable/cradle (or have one available). I got the BT adapter so I could sync with my PC in the office. But I found a few occasions where I could not easly change back to Wi-Fi after using my BT to sync (the Wi-Fi connection disapeared from the setup). So for that reason, I bought a cradle for my work PC.

Hope this helps,
John

As a side note, I wish Palm would offer the cradle, base only as an option for purchase, as opposed to having to buy the cradle kit for $50. The T|X will recharge in the cradle without having to use any external power supply, as long as the PC is turned on. It gets charge power from the USB port.

T|X supports both BT and 802.11b (Wi-Fi is my preference). T5 is BT only.

The processor of T|X is a little slower but I couldn't really tell any difference when comparing them in the store with the bundled apps, so depending on what apps you add, so this could be a consideration. As an example I have an astronomy app.

There is 128MB more memory on the T5 but you an still expand the SD/MMC cards up to 2GB, so I don't consider memory an issue at all.

Cheers,
John
