BLUETOOTH????? what is?

SO I must have JUST joined this century. My new cellphone has Bluetooth. I think i've had it before but my new phone brags that it has it like it's the second coming.
I don't care how it works> I just want to know what the big deal is.
What can I do with it?
About all i can think of when i hear the word bluetooth is middle aged guys in khaki's that are too tight talking really loud into their big ear pieces at the grocery store.
I dont really use the phone part of the phone *lol* I'm a internet-text girl. What good is this to me?
 
Bluetooth is a short-range wireless networking protocol, and it lets you do quite a bit with your phone. One of the main uses is to use one of those little earbuds to talk hands-free, but there are plenty of others. You can use Bluetooth to connect your phone to other phones or to your computer to send files (photos, ringtones, personal information, etc.). There are apps that let you use Bluetooth to send short-range chat and text messages to others with the same software. I've seen one app that's sort of a dating scavenger hunt -- when two people both running the app come within range of each other, they're each automatically sent a date request from the other.

Basically, anything you can think to do with a wireless internet connection, you can do with Bluetooth, with the limitation that it's only effective within about 10m. I personally use it primarily to quickly transfer files to and from my computer or other phones.
