Hey guys / gals ......

I'm almost there!

My Tungsten T3 appears to be looking for a bluetooth connection and then asks me to enter a "Paskey for Motorola DC600"

What is this?

Can someone please help!

Cheers,

Syno

To add to what Jim said, you will probably have to enter the same passkey on both your T3 and the phone. Make sure you enter the same passkey on both devices!

Hmmm........

O.K. great ...........I will try. Stick with me on this would ya.....I think I ALMOST have it and really want to get this working. Where do I enter the passkey on the phone. It is a Motorola V262 (not with bluetooth built in, but rather: the adapter mentioned above).

Cheers,

Syno

Just try it with the 0000 passkey on your T3. The bluetooth adaptor is probably already set for the default passkey. If not, there should be something in the documentation that came with the adaptor. It's a pretty rare item and it's unlikely any of us here can tell you something you can't find in the documentation.

I bought an attachment (the DC 600 bluetooth adapter for my Motorola V262 and was just hoping (crossing my fingers) that I'd plug it in and my Tungsten T3 would pick it up and off I'd go ........

Not the case. Here's what I have seen thus far: Unfortunately, there is no manual with it ...................

I plug the DC 600 adapter into my Motorola V262 and the blue lights begin to blink. When I try to connect with my Tungsten T3, here's what I get:

Starting discovery...
Discovery done. Getting names...
All names retreived.
1 devices were discoverd.
Motorola DC600
Connecting to first device.
RFCOMM connect failed!

So it seems that it is reading it but then .......nothing.

Any advice out there?

Not sure ...........

I have not seen any sites that say it is not and one rep. (not ther one who sold me / or wanted to sell me anything, said he thought there was no reason it shouldn't ...........well, evidently there is. I was hoping someone would know what that error meant to get me pointed somewhere.

Cheers,

Generally, an RFCOMM error means just what you might think. The Bluetooth radio frequency is discovering another device, attempting to connect, but then fails. In your case, I'm pretty sure it's because the DC600 doesn't communicate with the V262. I checked at least 10 sites that sell the DC600 and not one listed V262 as being compatible. Generally, if something's not listed as being compatible, it isn't, especially with something as esoteric as a bluetooth adapter. It's always a good idea to do you own research before making a purchase, especially if you have someone telling you there's "no reason it shouldn't work". That should send up an immediate red flag that that person also doesn't know if it will work.

I tried the same thing with a T5. I called the company and was advised that the device is only good for voice and not data. I posted a question on PDAStreet and was advised that there is nothing that can make a non-bluetooth phone into a data bluetooth phone.

Sorry
