Bluetooth on iPod Touch?? 10 points best answer :)?

I am trying to connect my ipod and phone so I have turned both of their blueooths on. I search for 'devices' on my phone and it finds the ipod so i try and connect but it always comes up with 'Connection Failed'
I then try and search for a device on my iPod instead but it just ends up searching forever....

please help me if you have any ideas?
