bluetooth i-pod classic to sony stereo ?

My father in law want's to pair his i-pod classic to his sony stereo. He has a bluetoothe adapter for the stereo and pairs his phone through this set up. Is it possible to pair a second device through the same bluetoothe system and if so which type of adapter should he buy fo the i-pod?
