Blueberry bushes and wildlife?

I bought my sweet mother a couple different blueberry bushes so they can cross pollinate- at their place- the birds are eating them all even with the netting ...over them..I now have them in town at my place..any ideas if they will make it ok in large pots? I hear they need lots of water and sun--and acidic dirt.... Mom has cancer and I know these are good for you so I want her to have fresh blueberries.
well- I forgot to ADD- any ideas how to KEEP birds, wildlife away from the bushes without harming the little critters- I love wildlife..too.

You can grow blueberries in pots. You just have to be very considerate of the soil that they like. They are very picky about their pH levels. They can get robust so start with a very large pot. You should put the pot on something wheeled so you can move it around as needed. Other than that feed them right and keep the soil moist. Here is a link on potted blueberry plants that I think you might like. Enjoy!
