Blue light around CD drive on the Wii keeps flashing?

i connected my wii to my wireless network a while ago. when i turn my wii off the power light turns orange instead of red. (im guessing that is supposed to happen) but what is worrying me is that a while after i have turned it off the blue light around the cd drive starts randomly flashing.. why is this? is it to do with connecting to my network? because it was not happening before i connected it to my wireless network?
is it completely unrelated?
why is it happening?
 
You have a message from certain games that you have like Mario Kart Wii does that. Its just like an email basically. Nintendo also sends messages about updating your wii. Also, if your friends have your wii code and you swap it with your friend and he/she sends you something, your wii will start flashing blue. As far as your "power" button is yellow, it means that your online but on idol on your wii.
