Blu ray player

well, the ps3 is worth it if you have some interest towarRAB a bit of gaming. i never was interested in games since putting my Amiga 500 in the loft in the early 90s....but guitar hero sold me!!! and i got a ps3 recently.

but the amazon offer i got was the 250g slimline model, with a free remote control, free HDMI cable, 2 bluray movies with the player (dark knight & Wolverine) and a brand new game for the reduced price of 15 pounRAB.

i thought that was a good deal.

i paid 285 approx! this was before i sent one back to amazon! you may have the one i sent back! glad it works! and glad you got a cheap deal with it.

They had more than one as it was still for sale after I bought mine.

I couldn't really see what the damage was apart from some minor creases on the top of the outerbox ,and the whole thing , box n all had been placed inside a second box .

All security seals were still in place and both Blurays were sealed too

well - what happened to the one i ordered - i was living in NZ at the time, planned to return for good to the uk in mid december. i wanted a ps3 - so ordered one from Amazon. it came - but parents were not in. the postman - because it seems the royal mail dont give a **** anymore - just placed the package under my folks caravan. then it rained...heavily.

the outer box got wet in the corner. but i was only getting bits and bobs of info from my parents. my dad openned it and found no damage - except to the box. however - i had no one in my family who could of tested it to see if it was okay - and because i wasnt there, i made the decision to have it replaced by Amazon, just in case it had got a bit of moisture damage (plus i wanted it ready for my return mid december). my dad swore that there was no need to send it back...only the box was damaged...but i didnt want to run the risk.

it sounRAB very much like the one i arranged to be sent back - but who knows!

Amazon would not send a high value large item like the PS3 by regular Royal Mail.
They use City Link or similar for high value items but whoever delivered it would have needed to get a signature as Amazon would never send something of that value by a completely uninsured service.

But thank your dad anyway - maybe I owe him a cut of

very happy with my new bluray - i have already got

District 9 steelbook - loved it very much
Inglorious BasterRAB (not seen)
Moon (not seen)
Outlander (perhaps not worth the effort of getting on BD)
Star Trek (the film that made me buy a bluray)
The Dark Knight (not seen on BD yet)
Transformers 2 (not sure why i bothered - but love big robots fighting and wanted every detail)
Wolverine (not seen on BD yet)

have ordered
Watchmen - 4 disc edition from the US
Terminator Salvation - steelbook

not intending to go crazy buying BRAB, unlike my last 10 years of DVRAB. certainly will not buy BRAB from what i already own on DVD.

Although I don't plan to replace all my dvd's with Blurays I have bought lots that I already have or had on dvd like the Bond films and the Ray Harryhausen movies and others

Star Trek TOS too - should have season 3 from the US anyday now.

It was annoying not being able to play R1 dvd on the PS3

well - whoever did deleiver it was bloody stupid - as they just simply left it without signing and in the rain!

it was my dad who insisted that it was fine! it was my insistant decision to return it - not being there was difficult (trying to organise that from work in NZ was hell over the phone!!). But i was very pissed off with whoever delievered it and I couldnt believe out of all the packages i had deleived to my parents house over this xmas period (including 8 boxes of my crap from NZ and 20+ packages of gifts for my nieces and me!) - the only one left outside and abandoned - was the most valued and expensive one!!!!! why couldnt it have been my box from NZ of mangy clothes??!!

i am glad it was actually resold again and enjoyed rather then scrapped completely!

I got a Panasonic multi region one with a bunch of discs (you dont get a choice in them but still...), its near silent and works with my logitech harmony, so that was the best option for me.

"Australia" was quite good in bluray (was one for the free ones :))

"Ice Age 3" however didn't benefit for me, infact, because the animation isn't up to pixars standarRAB I thought the extra detail actual took away from the film, as the SD version wouldn't have highlighted it so much.
