For instance I bought King Kong - my 3 disc DVD has more extras, could they not have included these on a 2nd DVD in the blu-ray package.
Or are they doing it like this to bring out "deluxe edition" blu-rays in the future

Has to be this, was discussing the very same thing last night with a friend. The Blade Runner blu-ray is much the same, very basic compared to the dvd box set. I fully expect a 'special' version sometime soon. Best to hang on maybe with films you really want until definitive versions appear, which they undoubtadely will.

The Bluray Blade Runner set is available in a 5 disc set with all versions of the movie in HD and all the extras that were part of the dvd 5 discer- just not in the UK
Warner have a habit of not releasing these special boxsets for Bluray in the UK .
We missed out on the Harry Potter , Dirty Harry and Wizard of Oz sets that came out in the US .
The UK usually gets all the films in one box and thats it.

But you can get the US Blade Runner 5 discer for not much over

i only have a few blu-rays. I pick them up if I see them cheap, but if I pay for them, the extras should be good.

So take something like Terminator 3. Really interesting picture in picture commentary track. That's the sort of thing that you ought ot get, if they are going to price the things at a premium level.

The last one I got was Wolverine Origins -
