Blu-Ray Buyers?

I have a PS3 so I do take advantage sometimes of the odd blu-ray, however, i can't help feeling that DVD is still ahead and always will be, and that blu-ray will die eventually. I also feel limited to not having the DVD version to watch in any room that has a DVD player!

How do you lot feel about this?

Not sure if anyone will know but does anyone know if the triple play Elm Street 2010 Blu-ray is in the Elm Street Blu-ray Double Pack? Or is it just a bogstandard Blu-ray? Thanks.

I belive that DVD's are just not as good quality as they used to be - some of them seem grainy. Blu-ray is fantastic and realistic, and I will always buy the Blu-ray over the DVD version every time. What are your reasons frailfury for your preference to DVD?

Well that all sounRAB boring as **** in all honesty but each to their own :p

Being honest the novelty of extra features wore off for me long ago, 90% of them I just don't bother with now.

Blu-Ray is a very divisive format, and I wouldn't be surprised if a row takes place in this thread. For me a lot of people over-analyse the DVD Vs Blu-Ray debate. It's simple. OP i'd ask you:

You want a film, you go to the shop and you see the film on DVD for

I'm sure many people said the same thing when DVD succeeded VHS. The end result will be the same in this case, Bluray is superior and will become the standard. Players will eventually become cheap as chips so that everyone will be able to afford as many as two or three per home. There's simply no chance that Bluray will die out while DVD lives on, that is completely out of the question.

Same here.
In the days of LD extras were new and exciting and in the early days of dvd they were too.
But now they just go overboard and I rarely watch them all.

But with older films they are worth watching for new interviews with cast members of decades ago so the interviews present on the Bluray of The Exorcist , Forbidden Planet and The Evil Dead (and the older Bond films) are fascinating , but brand new films rarely have extras that are of interest and most seem to be back slapping exercises with all the actors telling how great the director is and vice versa

I aint bothered about a digital version. I kinda wanted the DVD version of the 2010 remake aswell as the blu-ray, but couldn't pass up the double pack offer really.

It should be 2 seperate cases though right, like you would buy them on their own? Just that you can't buy the 2010 version without the triple stuff.

Blu-Ray will probably last till Digital DownloaRAB become more common.
But that won't be for ages as speeRAB are so slow in the UK.

And for most people it would take around a day or two to download a HD movie which is as good quality.

Bluray will never compete on DVD for popularity.

go to play.com and look at future DVD releases and compare it to bluray releases. there is a hell of a lot more.

Bluray players have been made with the wise decision as bakward compatable - i.e. are able to play DvRAB.

Obviously you watch the film first , but if its something extra special its nice to watch the film again and instead of being boring and familiar its nice to have popups and info on screen with details about the movie.
I've not used it for many films but the episodes of Star Trek TOS that had this option made for excellent viewing.

Blu-ray will upscale the original film frailfury, so it will look better than a standard DVD. I would buy the blu-ray and original film pack, for

I have the original on remastered DVD. Surely there wouldn't be much noticable difference between the original DVD being upscaled and the blu-ray?

It also concerns me I won't have a DVD version of the remake. So totally limited to blu-ray.

For me, apart from having the best possible picture and sound with Blu Ray, it's so much better not having that that pause when the disc layer changes which I do find annoying.
Also there should be no compression with Blu Ray, so even though a film is over 3 hours long the PQ isn't compromised due to lower compression to fit it onto the disc along with the 5.1 soundtrack. Take Avatar for instance, long film=shocking DVD PQ.
I will still buy the odd DVD now and then, but will probably only be tv boxsets.
