If you drove it to the shop and the only symptom is the trans fluid leaking out then I think that you have a leak in your transmission cooler or a cooler line. The transmission should be fine. You may have experienced the trans acting up because of the low fluid level. It should be fine once the leak is fixed and the fluid level is proper. If coolant mixed in with trans fluid then both systems will need to be flushed but it is unlikely that is the case. Good luck.

The radiator spewed out trans fluid. I parked it at a shop. The trans is probably fried(though the fluid did not smell burnt nor the discoloring from red) Limited budget. I need wheels. Should I throw in a junkyard trans or have it rebuilt? It's only 90,000 miles on it. I'm half a mechanic. could I install it myself? I've installed six rear wheel drive trans in the old days. Any suggestions??

Well first I would found out why the trans fluid spewed out of the radiator then fix that problem. Fill up the trans fluid to the correct level and then drive it and see how it goes. I mean if you didnt drive it for a very long distance after the trans fluid spewed out then its possible the transmission kept enough in it to keep from being fried. So fix the leak first then fill it back up. If trans is bad then you can save money by taking the trans out and having somebody rebuild it cheap and put it back in. You can save a ton of money on the labor from removal and instillation of the trans. If the engine and body are in good shape then its best to fix the trans
