it has 195000 miles is it worth it? I'm not a mechanic AT ALL! please any advice is APPRECIATED!
The body is GREAT! and the mechanic is my dad he has NO problem doing it, so its really free labor.

I just wasnt sure if anything else would blow too? the car is being purchased for $800...

If the body is sound and the car is in otherwise good mechanical shape go for it and hire a mechanic to bring the little 3.0 back to life. My wife paid Ford $1,200 to have new head gaskets installed on her winter beater 93 Ford Taurus with the positively awful 3.8 crap-less motor. A year and a half later they started leaking again.

Ford in their infinite stupidity only installs four head bolts around each cylinder in everything they try to make. Chevrolet on the other hand has five head bolts around every cylinder in every small block they've made since 1955.

Our family had many Fords. The Taurus, Tempo and Escort are their cheaply assembled models unfortunately. At that mileage it's questionable. Even after the costly repair by a mechanic, the other componants will start to fail soon on the engine and drivetrain. Unless you can get a good deal fixing it, the value of the car isn't worth it. For $3000 you can probably replace the whole car.
