blood tests for allergies?

My ENT is sending me to an allergist tomorrow. I had some allergy blood testing in 2005 (RAST - I think) and it only showed a cat allergy.

I actually have LOTS of allergies to both food and inhaled things, but my last skin test (over 10 years ago) caused me to have difficulty breathing because I had a positive reaction to so many things.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are any more accurate or better blood tests for allergies than the RAST test? I really don't want the skin testing again if I can avoid it.
 
Also, I've been off of my zyrtec for a few days now (just in case I absolutley need skin testing) and my whole body is itchy, no hives, just really bad itching all over.
 
The blood test just isn't that accurate for environmental allergies. The skin test is the gold standard at this point.
