Blood Test When Ill - Do they check for?

I've been wondering something for a while now.

I was quite ill for 3 years past and had many blood tests done throughout this time to see if anything turned up.

I've always wondered since then would they have checked for HIV as I always worried about this disease ever since I had unprotected sex with a girl at age 18. I'm now 22.

Would they have checked for it?

I think a basic blood test called a complete blood count would show the lowered immune system that comes with AIDS but probably wouldn't show an early HIV infection. The only way to know is to get an HIV test.

I'm guessing your docs would have told you if they tested you for HIV, you can request copies of your past blood tests from your docs office and double check for yourself.
