Okay, I've had loads of blood tests so I'm used to them, but I still hate them and feel nervous beforehand. It stings for a second when the needle goes in, it's feels more like a sharp scratch actually, but it lasts less than a second and you can't feel anything when the needle's actually in your arm. Definitely don't look at the needle when it's in your arm, it will probably freak you out. It's best to try and distract yourself - try having a conversation with the nurse (look at her instead of your arm) or read posters on the walls. You can probably hold the nurses hand if you ask, or you could take something with you to squeeze instead like a hoodie or a scarf. I usually just bite my thumb. Maybe take a bottle of water with you in case you feel dizzy afterwards. Good luck and try not to worry about it, it'll be fine. :]
