blood looks like red juice?

I finally went to my ob/gyn yesterday and she did some blood work to check my iron levels and thyroid...and when the blood was going into the tube...it looked really really thin and not as dark as usual...it looked like juice...LOL sorry thats the only thing I can think of to compare it to...I have blood work a lot and usually it's like a dark red and kinda thick coming out. Is this a sign of anemia or something else?

Blood can be thinner if you had fasting laboratory work done than if you had it done after having eaten earlier. Fluorescent lighting in the laboratory can affect the color appearance of the blood going to the vials. It also depends on where they take the blood from as to how dark and thick it is going to be. I have noticed veins near the inside of my arm tend to give darker blood where veins at the center (just above the crook of the elbow) give slightly thinner looking blood.

I am sure if it was unusual looking to the technician, they might have made a remark about it.

Anyway, as soon as you get your results back, you will be able to know for sure.

Let us know how it goes!

Lindaru :)
