Blood after doing number 2, any ideas?

I've always noticed some blood after doing number 2. It comes and goes and has been doing that for over a few years now. I don't experience any pain so I'm not sure if I should be too concerned about it. What do you guys think?

My husband has blood after having a bowel movement....its from his hemmoroids. He has like little amounts of stool that comes out most of the time and hard to get out. His bleeding does come and go and he does use over the counter meds to help with this. It can be bright red as in his case and most often never happens constantly.

Hope this helps,
Kathy

Rice isn't enough fiber. You need more than just rice as a fiber in your life. If you increase your fiber and make sure you have 64 oz. of fluid a day I bet this will go down. If it doesn't. then I would go into the doctor.

It could be from an internal fissure. YOu need to keep your stools soft so that the bleeding stops. Do this by adding fiber to your diet. My hubby eats fiber one with raisin bran and that helps alot. Keep up your fluid intact so your stools remain soft. If you are constipated, try Miralax. It has no taste or mouth feel. Give it three days and you will see a difference.

good luck.

I agree about the rice... I definitely try to add a lot more fruits and veggies to my diet, and the cereals I eat typically are higher in fiber. Unfortunately this means you may need to use the restroom more often, but it should help in this case! I used to not eat nearly enough fruits and veggies. I also try to stick with brown and wild rice when it comes to rice.

It can definitely be hemorroids. A lot of people seem to have this issue and not notice having any of them, but they can be smaller, where you wouldn't notice. This or hard stools would probably be the more common reasons. If there is no pain and stools are normal, not overly hard or large, then I would probably think it would be hemorroids. They have products for this, although I don't think you would need them if there is no discomfort. I also notice that I sometimes have this happen from wiping too hard. I will notice blood on the toilet paper, but then might notice some when using the bathroom another time. Using wet cloths (the kind that toilet paper brands make and can be flushed) helps with that issue!

I just saw an article in my local newspaper today where a young boy had blood in the toilet after using it and a local hospital told him he had Giardia; it's a parasitic infection that you can catch from drinking tainted water. It turned out it was a wrong diagnosis. He was seen by a specialist at a Boston hospital and they knew right away that it was Ulcerative Colitis. He had to have surgery. Get your colon checked out.

Thanks for the help guys. I actually eat rice daily and have been doing so since Childhood so I wonder if its working. I should get this checked up however.
