Blog Talkback: Toons of the 2000s: Top 5 Disney Animated Television Series

Great list, though i was not that fond of Teacher's Pet maybe I missed the point. Still Weekenders deserved that number one spot. That show was great and underrated, same with fillmore.

Nice list, I do like how Weekenders, Teacher's Pet, and Filmore got a spot on the list. Kim Possible I was expecting, if only for it breaking the "65 episode limit rule" they had, and Phineas and Ferb is also a delight as well.

I kinda wished to see "Dave the Barbarian" there. Ah well.

But i can't really complain since i haven't seen three shows from this list, and 2 show that i did see were/are amazing (KP and P&F).

I admit, it's pretty hard to choose five good cartoons from Disney Channel in the past ten years, but Kim Possible and The Weekenders would certainly be two of them. Though I'd switch their places.

Fillmore! I've never even heard of before, Teacher's Pet I never saw (though I saw the heck out of Christy Carlson Romano's music video, so I figured it must have been on there somewhere), and Phineas and Ferb, well . . . I guess I just don't get it. When it comes to animated series, I think the Disney hit their high point in the '90s.

Not sure if I would have listed Phinease and Pherb above Kim Possible but a good selection of shows.

Kim was 'over perfect' but that was part of the charm of the series as it showed that even people who can do everything have their own set of problems. That, combined with the whole 'Kim and Ron' angle showing how two people so opposite can actually balance each other out was a great message for the kids watching. Understanding those different than you in a subtle way, instead of getting hit over the head with a Moral Hammer (tm).

Filmore was always an hidden gem and I wish they had a chance to experience life a bit longer, even if as a cameo appearance in KP in the latter's final season. Hell, KP and Lilo and Stitch crossever over, so why not KP and Filmore??

One quextion: why no Disney Afternoon shows? Were they too early in the 90's to be considered as some had started in the late 80s or with them being done by a different division of Disney were they excluded from this one perticular list?

As much as I like Filmore and KP, when you compare them to Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers and esp Talespin, the whole top 5 become a lot tighter.

I believe this list is only of Disney-animated series that were produced between 2000-2009. All of the Disney Afternoon shows were mostly late-80s and 90s productions that were over by the start of the 2000s.

Wow, this list nailed it with both The Weekenders and Fillmore! Those shows were amazing. Why exactly did they get cancelled? Wasn't The Weekenders the first show that slowed down Pokemon back in the day? The Weekenders only had 39 episodes, while Fillmore! only had 26. I wonder why they got cancelled so quickley.

I'm not a huge fan of Teacher's Pet, although I did watch it a lot. But I gotta think that Buzz Lightyear of Star Command should be up there in its place. Granted I loved that show. That show, I thought, really had it all. I could be wrong tho.

because this is a top ten list for the top five Disney cartoons of this decade and Pepper and and Recess were made in the late nineties. That is why.

Fillmore's definitely way underrated, and Phineas and Ferb hasn't passed Kim Possible in my eyes yet... though it looks like it might at some point in the future. Never saw Teacher's Pet, and I really didn't give Weekenders much of a chance. Were they really that good?

Then again, let's see who else was eligible. The best two I can think of not on the list were Buzz Lightyear of Star Command and The Proud Family. It's debatable whether either is worthy enough. The Replacements and American Dragon: Jake Long had better second seasons than first seasons, but not enough improvement in either case. Lilo & Stitch: The Series? Okay, but too formulaic and very little spirit from the movie the series was inspired from. Dave the Barbarian? The Buzz on Maggie? Few people liked either of those two shows (I was one of the few who liked Buzz). Emperor's New School? Lucky enough to make it to a second season. Lloyd in Space? Meh... Teamo Supremo? Sigh... really?

And what of House of Mouse? Let's put it this way... other than preschoolers, who these days still thinks of Mickey and the gang as the biggest classical animated influence for kids?

I guess I'll take TZ's word on The Weekenders and Teacher's Pet being great Disney TV series.

I watched all of these, and liked them all (Teacher's Pet the least, although I still liked it)

I was wondering whether I was the only one who loved Fillmore... KP obviously is rightful. I loved The Weekenders when it was on. :D

The only one of these I've never watched is Phineas and Ferb. I just don't watch any of "new" Disney anymore (I probably should check it out though, Family Guy's "Road to..." episodes are my favorites). Nice to see Fillmore! and Teacher's Pet get some love. Was I one of the few fans of Teacher's Pet on here? I even went to go see the movie!

Never really got into Teacher's Pet, but this is a good list. Fillmore and Kim Possible were the highlights of my Saturday morning when recovering from surgery, so I'll always love those shows.

I don't think Phineas and Ferb deserves the number two spot, personally. It's a cute show, but it's far too hit-or-miss, in my eyes at least. I think it needs more time before it's considered a classic.
