true, but the proposal was done in colour, and they seemed to be on reasonable terms with each other couple wise, when the past event (monochrome) seemed pretty recent and it was a break up scene. Then again, they'd always had a turbulent relationship :D

What bugged me about the monochrome scenes was the confrontation with Bruce. Would he really say those things? Possibly... perhaps the slight narcissism and meglomania had built up over time in that cave. Would Terry have just stood by as the man hacked and coughed while trying to pick up his pills??? Terry must have been in a right rage there. Don't get me wrong, I loved those scenes, but seeing really old man Wayne being his usual grumpy self after Terry returned from Waller's seemed rather incongruent if the monochrome had occured.

guh, but I suppose that discussion's not meant for this thread, so I shall stop :anime:
 
I thought Timm stated that all the black and white stuff were possible futures/Terry's delusions/fantasies and didn't actually happen?

Then again, the creator of Evangelion stated long ago that 98% of the Christian stuff was thown in just because it sounded cool, and that doesn't stop anybody from trying to see deeper meanings behind that stuff...
 
Yeah, that scene was so odd that it was actually kind of cool to me.

I honestly lost interest in the DCAU around the time of JLU. I think that the vast amounts of new characters introduced and some of the darker storylines kind of turned me off. Plus, I really did like how they had a somewhat controlled number of characters to focus on during JL. Though, there were some episodes that I really enjoyed watching like "The Once and Future Thing" and "Epilogue".

I originally didn't like the idea of a different Batman with Batman Beyond but after looking back at the series, it did a good job with giving more focus to Terry and his villains than trying to put in copies of Bruce's old villains. Plus, Epilogue and Return of the Joker did a real nice job showcasing all of Terry's strengths as being Batman.
 
Yes, Dwayne McDuffie stated in his Ask the Maestro thread in his forum, somewhere. It was a bunch of possible scenarios that McGinnis was running through his mind. In hindsight, it was a great way to show how he mastered his role as Batman. It's no longer the McGinnis that punches his way into a room and gets his suit nearly destroyed every two weeks. No longer was there an old man whispering instructions to him, it was all McGinnis. He is the introspective Batman that we come to know over the years.

I'm really enjoying these new blogs despite the difference in opinions sometimes. Whereas some were turned off by all the guests and cameos, it made me even more excited and made me research comic books and around the Internet to learn more about the character's history. But I come from growing up on B:TAS, not growing up reading comic books then watching the shows.
 
Ah excellent, yeh that makes much more sense now.

Like you, I come from watching DCAU and not reading the comics, though by the time Booster Gold and Elongated Man had appeared on the scene I'd read Identity Crisis and few of the older JL trades. What I liked about DCAU was that it pretty much shaped it's own continuity while borrowing from the comics, staying true to the characters and just carrying it off in their own direction. Then you had the comics related ones like Laughing Fish which was just freaky and brilliant (stuff I would only find out later in getting into the comics).

And now Terry has made his way into the Batverse! *punches air* Sure.. alternate timeline and all, but he's there! Add Harley, Montoya, and it just goes to show how much DCAU has shaped DC Comics in return.

edit: I'd just got back from watching some of the BB episodes. I didn't realise before that Carl Lumbly was the one who'd voiced Stalker. Okay, sadly I didn't even know that was the actor's name, but hearing J'onn coming out of that character's mouth in 'Plague' kinda made my head spin. Anyone else experiencing these moments on looking back at old eps?
