Blog Talkback: Geneon Anime Worth Rescuing - Parts 1 and 2

I definitely agree with Lain, Haibane Renmei, and Paranoia Agent being on the list. I would love to have Lain on Blu-ray, after the HD remaster is finished in Japan of course.

Texhnolyze not making it is a mistake though. That show is a masterpiece and easily one of the best things Geneon ever released IMO.

Ippo is a good show too but nobody is going to rescue it due to it bombing so horribly for Geneon and Funi aren't going to touch another sports anime anyways after Big Windup's failure. Rightstuf's bargain bin still has a lot of stock of it for cheap too.

One show nobody has mentioned is Niea_7. It's a decent underrated show and the Geneon DVDs had some quality issues that could possibly be corrected if it were rescued.

Honestly, had I not seen Hellsing Ultimate posted in one of the later posts I would've said nothing. I completely forgot Geneon was over Hellsing.

But other than that, nothing.

The Biggie: CCS just got a HD remaster in R2 and desperately needs an uncut dub.

Others...

Paranoia Agent didn't really sell back in the day but a box would be nice.

Tenchi Muyo Ryo-Oh-Ki! 1 and 2 - they already own 3 and GPX (the other two components of the prime-Tenchiverse) so why not the rest? Heck while you're at it El-Hazard needs better subs.

Tetsujin 28 - Its a good show. Shame it never aired on tv anywhere though.

Lain - Its a classic!

NOT ON FUNI'S RADAR ANYTIME SOON...

Fafner
Fushigi Yugi - Sorry Juu.
Burn Up Scramble
Mao-Chan
Stelvia

Indeed it is. I got the DVDs to this series a year ago, and greatly enjoyed it.

I will say that it's an underrated series, as I don't think that a lot of people will care for the "retro" character designs, and will think that the robots are cheesy. It's also a show you don't want to see if you're a "I wanna see stuff blow up!" person.

If you're interested, Rightstuf has all the singles to this series for $3 each, so the entire series will cost you $18-$20 (It's $2 extra for the artbox). I think that it's some of the best $20 I've ever spent! :)
