Hi Guys & Gals:
Cliff Notes:
Does anybody know how to turn, on an Android driven phone, OUTGOING Caller ID off as a standard for all calls while allowing to turn it on on occasion?
War and Peace Version:
With my Windows Mobile 6 phones (WING, MDA) I never had a problem getting my outgoing caller ID blocked for all calls. I went into the phone options, services-tab, clicked on "Caller ID" and then on "get settings". The phone responded then with "reading settings from the network" and gave me then the choice "provide my caller ID to () everyone () No one () only to contacts.
I had it always set to () no one, because I hate having companies collecting my caller ID when I call them for support, to order, etc. and then give me marketing calls back, which they are allowed to do, even though I am on the "Do Not Call" list, because I had a "previous business relationship" with them (i.e. I called them)
Now with the G1 I am not able to find any network setting which would allow me to do the same thing. I know I can #31# before the phone number for every call, but that would require me to change all my contacts etc. and I also know that I can call T-Mobile to permanently turn it off, but that would make it impossible to turn it temporarily ON (e.g. when I call friends who have some "privacy director" feature on their line).
Any idea or GSM code which would allow me to do the same thing as I did on my Windows Mobile Phones (i.e. permanently turn outgoing caller ID off, while still being able to turn it on on special occasions (i.e. when calling friends with privacy director) in Android?
Thanks!
Cole
