blinking overdrive light on a 98 ford windstar, help??

I recently bought a used 1998 Ford Windstar I am having a problem with the overdrive light, it keeps coming on and blinking if I stop the car and turn it off and turn it back on it goes off. When it does come on the van slows down until it gets down to like 30mph. Is this a problem what should i do??
