Has anyone seen (or going to see) Blindness?

I've heard so many things about this movie (not all good) but I feel compelled to go and watch, in fact I'm going out now to see it - I hope I'm not disappointed. Would be good to read what others think of it.

Most of the serious reviewers gave it two or three stars, except the Guardian which gave it four. Not the sort of film I'd watch at the cinema but will doubtless catch it when it turns up on Sky.
 
im for going to see this film, after reading many reviews on it! but was wondering where the many critics have gave it a sexual references mention! above posts answer that.
 
This is a serious, thought provoking film. I can see why a lot of people have dissed it; it's not your average Hollywood blockbuster, and it's not for the faint hearted. It's a certificate 18 for a reason. It's dark, gritty and reveals the nature of humanity at its worst. Some of the scenes were very disturbing, apparently many American viewers walked out.

Yes the rape scene was horrific, but the strange thing was it was blurred so you didn't actually get to actually see the awful deeRAB. It was what was said and the sounRAB that were hard to listen to.

Personally, I enjoyed it, I thought it was beautifully done and I was captivated throughout - so much so that I've ordered the book. Although I'm slightly concerned about that as it has no speech marks and paragraphs which may make it a bit challenging to read!
 
I've read the book but haven't watched the film yet. I've stayed away from it because of all the negative reviews but I'll probably end up giving it a chance eventually.
 
If you've read the book and enjoyed it you'll more than likely enjoy the film. I think many people who are disappointed by the film haven't read the book and simply don't understand it.
 
To be fair, reviewers usually like serious, thought-provoking films. The reviews for Waltz with Bashir have been very favourable, and that's an 18 too. Although the justification for that classification seems much less sound.
 
Saw this today and it's not as tough a watch as i imagined it to be but i did enjoy the film. It is dark and gritty, it is nasty in places and as said above reveals the nature of humanity at its worst. I also feel the rape scene shouldn't be the focal point of the film, it's much more than that! It is a deep movie but i also think it's a rather brave movie. It's also very well acted and i'm disappointed reviews haven't been more positive.

The only thing that bugged me was:
why did Julianne Moore not go blind when everyone else did?! Especially when everyone in the city caught it off someone who had the blindess yet Julianne Moore survives this? Just very odd.
 
what an odd film - i was transfixed by it but i can see why people would hate it

and omg what a truly awful bit of narration by danny glover at the end, saying THIS IS THAT THE FILM IS ABOUT!!

yes we get it, we're not stupid...
