Blade Runner - there's two hours of my life I ain't getting back

Perhaps the film would have gone down better with the OP had it had John Sims overacting in it and shooting lasers from his hanRAB and stuff which is like so cool or whatever. None of this subtely and atmosphere stuff which is like boring cos like nothing like happens for like ages.

haha yeah sorry that did sound a bit cranky :p

I happen to think you're wrong and Blade Runner looks just as good now as it did then but each to their own :)

I agree it looks amazing still. For instance, the Spinners flying over the city spewing massive flames into the rain sodden night sky has a tangible, believable feel to it that CGI cannot ever reproduce and the Japanese "wails" from the advertising blimp creates a rather haunting atmosphere.

Blade Runner is such a good film on so many levels, The mixing of Film Noir and Scifi Genres, the set designs, the future looking so Bleak are just a start. It works on so many levels for each different version, and the arguments about if he is a replicant or not will go on to the end of time, Ridley Scott says yes deffo, but academics and Film journo's say no. I'm still undiceded.
The pace is very different from a lot of Modern films but works so well and Roy Bateys lines at the end are inspiring.
All the different cuts add there own level of argument to the film, (Just cut of the Tacked on Car ending of the theatrical cut), and its so in depth. Not a film you can watch while doing other things. Darken the room, turn the volume up and watch, as others have said, you often see new things on repeat viewing.

On the talk of Pulp fiction, what makes it so good is the way that Tarrentino Plays with the Narritive structure of the film, changing the viewers perceptions, the dialogue and characters and how they are explored all make it a great film.

Well, I only spent 45 minutes watching it before switching off, but I'm not trying to be witty, I genuinely am complaining that I wasted 45 minutes watching it. I found it completely boring.

Opinions are great because everyone is entitled to one. Just because mine doesn't agree with yours doesn't make either of us right or wrong. Get over yourself.

That is hanRAB down the worst version of the film - I really really like Bladerunner, and I was massively disappointed with the Final Cut. Likewise Ridley Scott's last cut of Alien, it does the original a complete disservice.

When the film first came out many moons ago it was superb. However like many things it hasn't stood the test of time and compared to todays advancement in CGI and special effects it looks pretty normal now.

I reckon had you watched it when it first came out you would have loved it.

1. A convincing futureworld and fully realized sense of another time and place before CGI.
2. Apes its noir sources as every character morally ambiguous to the bitter end.
3. Harrison Ford making himself almost anonymous in a role that was the polar opposite of Han or Indy.
4. Rutger Hauer as that most terrifying of psychopathic villains - the one who is terrified himself.
5. Vangelis' timeless soundtrack echoing the plight of the replicant - can something made to look and act human not accidentally possess a soul too?
6. Inspiration to the cinematic style of Michael Mann and Christopher Nolan and made George Lucas and Steven Spielberg think again stylistically with 'Attack of the Clones' and 'Minority Report' respectively.

'Blade Runner' is sublime, my friend.

So does that mean she's not really suffering, but merely simulating it? Does this mean the emotions she provokes in Deckard are unimportant? Is his love less real because the woman he loves is fake?

Some would say we never fall in love with real people, but only with our illusions of them.
