Nexus 6 Replicants have a 4 year life span.

Batty's Incept date was January 8, 2016.

Events in the film take place in November 2019.

So, why does his life span run out at the end of the movie when he should still have a few more months left to live?

The light that burns twice as brightly dies twice as quickly (or whatever the quote is) and Roy did burn so very very brightly, so perhaps he ran out of juice a bit faster than he should have.

Yes, I did think the answer was perhaps within that quote, but I wondered if it was the official recognised reason or there was another reason I was missing...or maybe it was another one of those legendary continuity errors.

I was joking! I'm sure the quote was meant to explain why he doesn't live as long as humans. I've just tried sending a message to Roy Batty's myspace page to see if he knows why he dies early. Perhaps I might get an answer before 2016.

Batty's Death date was January 8, 2020.

Film set or started in Nov 2019 quite easy to imagine the film taking place over a few months or do you imagine it to be set on 1 day?

Nah, sorry, dont buy that.

I dont belive the events of the movie took place in one day, but I also dont belive they were set over the course of a couple of months.

Remember Derkard was called back into service to get he job done quickly.

But a boring one. Somehow 'I want more life' and all that talk of proto-recessive genes that created a mutagenic virus so powerful the host was dead before he left the table is all a bit less gut-wrenching if Roy is just having a bit of a whinge about not living for a couple of more months.

And the film can't go up to Jan 8 or Deckard would sit at home with his feet up waiting for the news of his death to come in. The only explanation I can think of that would make sense is that Roy actually switches himself off early, but that doesn't ring true either.

It's a damn fine question that deserves plenty of thought...
