Blade of the Immortal

Judging fron the first ep the animation reminRAB me of late 80s early 90s quality. Its so weird though, that i may just watch a couple more eps before I drop it or follow it. I know a few of you said you would of liked Madhouse to do this series but I think Bones would of been perfect for this series.

Bones does good sci-fi. Not good historical/samurai series. Take Ayakashi Ayashi for example. It borabed and the episode count was cut in half. Although I loved it, I think I was the only one. Madhouse has done great work with Shigurui among others that would give them the edge on covering this.

Studio Bee Train....what did they do before this that really left a foul taste in my mouth? Was it maybe Samurai Deeper Kyo? I'll have to look it up.

Stills huh? Any copmpany that uses stills in the first episode is almost a clear indicator of the quality we'll get in the series. Using stills is one of the worst things you can do in an anime. Even when done well it just makes it seem cheap. The worst thing is when a still is used in an action scene.

I'm going to watch the raw and make up my mind on this. Blade of the Immortal is one of my all time favorite manga. I own most of it and had always hoped it would be animated at some point. Truly one of the most epic series in print. It's a shame they ended up with a subpar director.

It was okay, kind of odd how there was a Christian confessional in japan during that time period. I guess they have no intention to match with actual history. The action seems okay, i deemed it watchable

Someone neeRAB a history lesson. Christianity arrived in Japan in the mid 16th century. It was repressed later during the Tokugawa era, but continued in secret.

Have you ever seen Sword of the Stranger. Madhouse has only done a couple historical/samurai series themselves. One thing there both good at is great fighting scenes, so I really think its just a matter of whos style you would of rather scene for this series.

Well if the manga has any aspirations of being above average(hear it's gr8, actually), the anime sure as hell doesn't!

VERY mediocre animation(even bad), a catchy but out-of-place OP(it has a noir-not the anime-feel to it), circus music during fights and so on and so on.

I must say, if the story and chars. are faithful to the manga then i'm not sure i'd find it more enjoyable either.

Ironically the OP-animation is the prob. the best in the show...

Was Samurai Deeper Kyo's anime really that bad? I have never seen the anime. I am so in love with the manga. I am afraid of watching the anime because it may ruin how I feel about my Kyo and all my other guys. I love the action of...Oh right, I'm suppose to be talking about Blade of the Immortal.

From the description I figured that I would start watching it, but people do not seem to be impressed by the fact that it's now an anime. Maybe it will turn out better than everyone thinks.

Seriously, I was so damn excited by that.

I trusted this anime. I let it into my house.

And it raped me. With shitty animation, bad pacing and shittier bg music.

Hard.

Anyone who steals this deserves everything they get.
