Well i'm on cingular and decided in december with he help of you guys to get a blackjack and take it for a spin. Great phone, just to limited in what you can do with it, didn't fully realize the difference between smartphone/pocket PC.

Problems. I wanted to replace my ipod and phone. That is a no go with the blackjack. Battery life just sucks when listing to music. Maybe 3-4 hours if LUCKY. I'm a person that has to charge my nano every other day so i listen to a good 6 hours a day of my mp3 player! The couple days i tried RSS+email+IM, the battery was shot before the end of the day. All i do is read the mail/RSS so not like i send stuff back... IM was just bad, but i can live without it

So what i have decided if i can knock two things in my pocket i'm happy (phone, camera, mp3). When it comes to actual phone specs i would at least like it to be able to hold ~2gb of music. Preferably nokia/SE. Play my mp3's (VBR playback is a plus, as my whole collection is like 160/192 VBR... no biggie though to re-encode if it's a super nice phone otherwise...). A2DP would be really really nice, but at least normal headphones (adaptar ok, like SE). Like really, but i have no idea what the battery would be like... or a phone with a REALLY nice camera at least 3mp but not like we have the 5.2MP cameras like japan . The best thing though for either is if it worked in japan, but i know no phones that work here work there or of course something with a bit of everything

What I've been looking at:
SE w850i (not a cingy happy phone?)
SE k790a (M2 card though, biggest I've seen is 1gb...)
SE w810i (no a2dp though, kinda bummer...)
Nokia Nxx (can't tell differences, all seem so similar)

Network i have is cingular in Scottsdale(phoenix), Arizona, USA. Quad band would be nice. but it at least has to work in Scottsdale and San Diego...

I don't mind waiting a month or 2 for a new phone (my razr still works). But of course the sooner the better !

so, thanks for the feedback in advance!

well it doent have to be japan ok i only go there maybe once a year for a month, normally every other year... But i thoght GSM phones dont work there? But whats the battery like on the N80 while listing to music, seems like a workhorse/gas guzzler...

On a full charge, I've played MP3's for about 2 hours and the battery meter did not budge, but then again, I'm the kind of guy who conditions his batteries when they are new.

You can use your own headphones if you buy an adapter - AD-46. I have one inbound. It lets you answer the phone while listening to music. The headphones that come with the phone aren't that bad to begin with.

So i would easily be able to get ~5-12 hours out of the battery then? as i use my ipod for at least 3-4 hours a day... Be nice to not have to charge it every couple days!

From what I gather, no. For example, owners of the N80 complain about having to charge their phone nightly. People want small phones that do everything. More processing power means higher wattage used, and smaller phones mean smaller batteries - less mAh.
