Ok, Im with AT&T and i would like to have a blackberry. I just want to ask what phone you would recomend for me. I like the 8300 and the 8800. But i want to know what phone should i get for my specifications. I want a full QWERTY keyboard, um all the new and usual features. And the big one is that i want a BB that isnt totally smart and not so high tech. Im just using it to make calls, send a lot of txts and the other casual user things. Im not totally into the Internet and paying all of that extra money. Thx !
 
I recommend NOT getting a Blackberry. AT&T has refurb Nokia E62s for around $30 with a new contract. More available software than the Blackberry. Blackberries are mostly best used with A: Internet, and B: Blackberry Enterprise Server (and the Nokia works with that too, heh).

With a device of this sort, you're not going to get away without it being high-tech. And they almost REQUIRE Internet service. Sounds like either one might be a bit much for you if you mainly want the QWERTY for texting. So just get the cheaper one.
 
He just wants calling and texting. To be honest, the best option would be some sort of QWERTY phone like the LG enV or the Samsung u740 (Both for Verizon, figures, ugh). AT&T could really use an equivalent to one of these; they don't have one. The Nokia E62 comes the closest, and even that's a little heavy-duty for just texting.
 
Actually, i personally wouldnt put the u740 as a top texting phone. Not only the keys are confusing, they are also small for a big fingered person. Just go the safe way and get a pearl. Some people actually type faster on the SureType than on the qwerty.
 
I didn't say it was a "top" texting phone, I just said it was a texting phone.

AT&T needs to get Samsung and LG to make GSM versions of those things...there's no sense in giving up a potential market without SOME sort of resistance.
 
Well yes im using a lot of txts but thats not all. I use a lot more than that. I used calenders on my phone, which are cheap ones, but i defenitely wouldnt mind to have the tasks and pda thing. The ONLY thing im not using is the online and emails. And yes i do agree with ya man, i LOVE the enV but AT&T doesnt have any of those phones, or even the sidekick. But right now im lookin into the Refurb 8300 the most.
 
I know someone who got one of the 8300s. He's returning it for a refurb E62. Just food for thought. If you've used Blackberries before you might be more comfortable with the 8300. Personally though, I just don't find the BBs appealing (except MAYBE the Pearl).
 
I'd vote the curve, but I'm a BB fiend. I wish WM was as stable because I'd love teh multi-media features, but once you go BB, you'll never go back with teh stability
 
Are the 8300s hard to navigate? Because one of my best friends has a pearl and it took her a good while just to be able to bluetooth ringtones and other things because it was so hard to find.
 
I found the Pearl to be very intuitive, plus the pearl itself was the best feature for scrolling, hence I got myself a phone with the pearl-like feature as well. But BB's are plain awesome.
 
The 8300 is a more comfortable BB to type with as the phone is a bit wider and the keys a little further apart. It also has a better camera and is more of a MM phone.

The 8800 is sleeker and has GPS.

If you are not going to use the email function, I wouldn't spend all the money on it though.
 
If you aren't getting the BB dataplan, then it is no sense in getting the BB IMHO. BBs are great email devices. If you aren't going to take advantage of that, then spend your money elsewhere. You will be disappointed.
