Blackberry Torch or Samsung Captivate?

I'm really caught between these two phones. Both phones are the epitome of sexy, but the Torch has that famous Blackberry quality, while the Captivate is jam-packed with features. I like how the Torch comes in White and has a keyboard, but the Captivate is thinner and has a .8" bigger screen. The Blackberry is made out of metal, but the Samsung is made out of plastic. Im really caught between these two phones. What do you guys think is better? Which one feels higher in quality and which one functions better as a phone in general? I'm not the biggest app user, so that doesn't matter too much, but I don't want something like a Treo where you couldn't even read the messages you got.

Go with the samsung captivate for sure blackberry tourch its sooooooo under power for 2010 and even black berry 6 don't cut it. if your going to commit your self for two years the captivate has more to offer, blackberry browser still slow and clunky and app world still really small. Android has 100.000 apps has adobe flash support hackable list goes on. The only thing blackberry has for it self its the secure email and BBm thats it. sorry for the misspelled words in advance.

Gotta say Captivate.

BlackBerry 6 still feels like an old OS outside of certain areas. Android is definitely much more up to date. And as Jose said, the Torch is still using an old processor -- two years old, in fact. The only two real setbacks to me are AT&T's block on non-Market apps when using the official firmware and Samsung's seeming inability to get upgrades out on time.

Plastic vs Metal should not even be a consideration. You won't have either for more than 24 months. Plastic is my preference because it is lighter. That said i never had use for a Blackberry not having to deal with exchange. The Captivate is a great phone but you WILL go though juice. Far more than a black berry. An extra battery would serve you well.

I really don't care for non centric phone makers. Samsung is more concerned with TVS and refrigerators than mobile phones but the Cappy is the best ATT has in the Android flavor right now. As soon as a mobile centric company can match the features I will buy it no matter the cost and use my cappy to back up the wifes.

So 3 Captivate 1 Torch huh... I still kinda want the torch since it comes in white (Im a sucker for color preference :P) but the Captivate seems like the best phone for the longest time. The screen is also amazing on it...

These phones are complex, and there is a chance they will fail. Check the return policies for the 2 phones. My Blackberry stopped working and it took about 3 months to finally get a working phone. Seems Blackberry offers no customer support for repairs if you buy the phone through the carrier. Don’t know if Samsung has someone you can talk to in customer support if there are problems.

I have flashed over 30 ROMS into my phone The Captivate is nearly impossible to brick. a simple USB device with a 300K resistor will unbrick a Captivate upon the rare occasion when some does brick their device. I don;t baby my phones. I don't use cases, Carried in pockets with keys and crap,,,,,,,and i mess with the Software..A LOT. and I have not had any issues with mine or my wife's Captivate.

That said, I would LOVE a more mobile centric manufacturer over Samsung but until Moto or HTC makes a device like the Cappy I am confident the Galaxy series is the way to go.
