Blackberry storm SMS icon is missing?

I pulled the battery when my phone froze and when i turned it back on my SMS icon was missing and i can no longer send or receive SMS text messages. I have looked at other forums on this topic and they all say go to messages-bb icon button- general options- email and sms- seperate ... but the problem is i do not have an option for email and sms when i go to general options. PLEASE HELP
