Blackberry Pearl or Tmobile Dash

T-Mobile Dash is a better phone IMHO unless you are going to subscribe to BB service. The Dash has WiFi and WM5 (soon to be upgraded to WM6), which is more customizable.

Depends on if you want QWERTY or Suretype and if you don't mind rebooting your handheld a couple times a day.

Windows Mobile is a Windows product. OS is suspect. The Pearl is a BB. OS is bulletproof and it works.

We just got new phones and I got a Dash and my son got a BB Pearl. I like the Dash because of the keyboard and wireless. My son likes the Pearl since he can type with two letters on a key and he thinks it has a much better PIM...which I agree it does. He'd say you're nuts to get a Dash ...I'd say you're nuts to get a Pearl if you can't even type your name on it and I can't.

Two opinions...I'm sure they are worth what you paid for them!

This thread is a little old, but I figured I'd post here with my observations rather than start a new one. I figure you can never have too much information, right?

When mail2web's push email went south a couple weeks ago, having become reliant on push email, I decided to try a BB Pearl. Previously I'd been using the Dash.

My observations on the pearl so far:

1. The browser doesn't hold a candle to the Dash. If you MUST browse web sites on your phone like on a desktop, get the Dash.

2. Push email on the BB is awesome and fast! I can send an email from gmail to my BB address, and the phone will beep before the gmail inbox finishes loading after I've clicked the send button. I tried running a comparison last night between the two, but mail2web is still not working.

3. The pearl battery life blows the dash away. I don't think my battery is quite broken in yet, so I've been trying to discharge it completely and put it through a couple good full cycles - but it won't die! It's like the friggin' energizer bunny! I charged the phone Friday night, and haven't plugged it back in yet. It finally went to low battery on me this morning (Monday), but it's still going - though the battery indicator has been red now for about 10 hours (and I used the phone fairly heavily today and over the weekend). It's kinda ticking me off - 'cause I want to discharge it completely, yet I can never get it to do so before I need to juice it back up when I need to hit the road, so I can tether to my notebook in an emergency and not have to be worry about battery power.

4. Suretype doesn't bother me - but I can only use it if I have both hands on the phone. It seems my brain is trained to think T9 if I'm using the phone one handed - but if I get both hands on, it's just like typing on the Dash. I wonder if the people who complain about it are using it one-handed?
